Speaking skill is considered to be the most important skill by language learners. Learners often measure their success in language learning by the extent to which they can use their spoken English. Notwithstanding, this skill is one of the most neglected in language instruction. Keeping this in mind, Vikas Bharati Public School organized an online workshop on ‘English Communication’ with Mr. Shiwank Gupta, Corporate Communication trainer. The ten days workshop started from May 5th to May 15th and was attended by the entire teaching staff. It aimed at facilitating teachers’ communication and linguistic skills.
The workshop focused on the importance of English language and how it can be used to explore global knowledge. The first half of the workshop aimed at making the educators understand the basic structure of the language and use it as an effective tool of communication to become self- assured speakers. The eloquent Mr. Gupta effectively engaged the educators in various exercises that set the mood and built anticipation amongst all. The interactive sessions helped teachers overcome their hesitation and put forward their queries which were immediately resolved by sir.
The second half of the workshop focused on improving the pronunciation. With the help of the ‘phonemic chart’ sir helped us visualize the individual sounds and practice those sounds accurately.
Mr. Gupta took complicated pronunciation problems and dissected them into simple understandable concepts.
Time flew by under Sir's able guidance and we reached the end of the workshop. Overall it was an enriching, productive and informative workshop.
